United Methodist Men |
The UMM will
met on Monday, November 14 in the Fellowship Hall at 6:30 pm.
They continued their book study on "Strong Men of Heart
Heart....Biblical Men of Compassion". The book highlights 50 men in the
Bible from obscure figures such as Ebed Melech and Tobit, to The
Prodigal's Father and Jesus Christ. Each chapter is short, maybe 2
pages, and concludes with 3 discussion questions. Each chapter will be
led by one of our UMM.
The challenges
we face today as men are easily identifiable through these Biblical
figures. This study will be enjoyable and rewarding. Please join us.
Books are available from Greg Kornegay @ $5.

Salud Y Paz in Guatemala and Suzanna Wesley Preschool |
Anita Metz and Evelyn Aranda went to Guatemale
where they joined a mission team from Florida to add some finishing
touches to the Suzanna Wesley Preschool Classrooms at the Camanchaj
clinic. Evelyn painted wall murals depicting Guatamalen people and Anita did construction work. This
was Anita's first trip.
Evelyn traveled to Quetzaltenango to take a 2 week language immersion
course in Kiche', the dialect of the Mayan People. A video clip of
the project is available on the website
www.youtube.com Search for Camanchaj, Guatemale (Suzanna
Wesley Preschool). This past year we collected money by dropping loose
change in a large jug. The money was recently counted. This will pay a teacher's salary for
a year
at the Suzanna Wesley Preschool. Thanks to each of you who
contributed. We hope you will continue to support this mission. |

Send A Hug |
The Send A Hug ministry is gearing up for another academic school year.
Our goal is to keep our young people, that are attending college,
involved and connected with their church family. Cards, surprise
mailings and other contacts are made to each student throughout the year
through the Send A Hug project. As a group or individual, you can
help in many ways. 1. Be in prayer for our students as
they face challenges. Many will not have their family right there
to help them and will be making many decisions on their own.
2. Visit, e-mail or send mail to the young people to let
them know that they are being remembered and prayer for. Student
names and school addresses will be put on file at the
church office as soon as they are received.
3. Make donations to the Send A Hug project. All
the surprises, back to school kits, gift cars, an communications are
supported through your donations. Be sure to mark your check or
envelope as Send A Hug so that your gift will be credited to you
as well as go to the project.
Thank you for all your support in the past. Students should
have received a surprise gift card to start off their school years and a
second card of encouragement. If you know of a student that is not
receiving their mail, please have them contact Susan Auman. An
updated list of student names, birthdays and addresses is available in
the Church office and in all vestibules. Please pray for these
students and send them a card to let them know they are loved.

Emmaus |
We currently have over forty persons who have experienced the "Walk to
Emmaus". The Walk to Emmaus is a spiritual renewal program
intended to strengthen the local church through the development of
Christian disciples and leaders. The program's approach seriously
considers the model of Christ's servanthood and encourages Christ's
disciples to act in ways appropriate to being "a servant of all." |
